LUCENA CITY – Police arrested 60 drug suspects after conducting numerous operations spread over three days in Cavite, the provincial police said on Friday.
Colonel Marlon Santos, Cavite police chief, said the suspects were arrested in 40 buy-bust operations across the province from February 24 to 26.
Authorities confiscated a total of 211 sachets of shabu (crystal meth), six sachets of died marijuana leaves, drug-using items and cash believed to be from the sale of illegal drugs.
Likewise arrested during the operations were 21 wanted felons, 13 suspects on various major and minor crimes, 16 illegal gamblers and two illegal gun holders.
At least 143 individuals were accosted for violating health protocols to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
They were found either not wearing face masks or violating curfew rules.
The violators were either fined or rendered community service.
As of February 26, Cavite, which remains under the modified general community quarantine status, has recorded 20,722 Covid-19 cases.
At least 19,266 of them have recovered, and 571 died. The province still has 890 active cases.
