48 nabbed in Laguna drug raid

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna — Police have arrested 48 persons in a raid of a suspected shabu den in San Pedro, Laguna.

Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna police director, in a text message, said authorities served seven search warrants in Barangay (village) Cuyab at around 9 a.m. Friday.

Arrested were 35 male and 13 female suspects but initial police report did not provide their names.

Police recovered a still unidentified number of sachets containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) while others of marijuana and several drug paraphernalia.

Superintendent Kirby Kraft, San Pedro police chief, by phone said the shanties, located in a secluded alley, were also used as sex dens.

He said the patrons, buying at least P500 worth of drugs, may have sex with any of the women at the den. The practice is locally referred to as “sex swap,” he added.

The arrested suspects and recovered evidences were turned over to the regional police headquarters in Calamba City.
