Former congressman Jose Gullas; 87
CEBU CITY—Former congressman Jose “Dodong” Gullas, of Cebu’s first district, died in a private hospital past 6 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 25).
He was 87.
The cause of death has yet to be revealed by his family.
In a post on Facebook, his nephew and incumbent Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas expressed grief over the death of his uncle.
“You will be forever missed uncle,” said Samsam, who recently recovered from COVID-19.
Dodong was the executive vice president of the University of the Visayas and served as chair of the board of trustees of The Freeman newspaper.
He promoted arts and music, especially Cebuano music, and was an unassuming supporter of the Catholic Church, especially the Archdiocese of Cebu.
