7 more COVID-19 patients die in Cavite; death toll rises to 571

LUCENA CITY –– At least seven more people have died from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Cavite province as of Wednesday, Feb. 24.

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported on Wednesday that the COVID-19 death toll in the province since March last year had risen to 571.

The PHO did not give details on the deaths.

The Provincial Information and Communication Affairs Department of Cavite posted a copy of the PHO report on its Facebook page.

Health authorities also reported 131 more COVID-19 patients to the list. At least 24 of them are new cases. The 107 were only lately registered.

Cavite, which is under modified general community quarantine, had recorded a total of 20,645 COVID-19 cases with the listing of 186 newly recuperated patients on Wednesday.

The report said 19,260 patients have recovered from the virus, while 819 were still active cases.

Of 23 municipalities and cities in the province, Dasmariñas has the highest COVID-19 cases with 3,521, followed by Bacoor with 3,485.

Magallanes town has the lowest COVID-19 recorded cases with 64.

On Feb. 18, the PHO conducted a COVID-19 vaccination simulation exercise for the province-wide vaccination program.

The exercise aimed to assess the readiness of the provincial government for immunization.

The event was held at the Women’s Health and Wellness Center in General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital (GEAHM) compound in Trece Martires City.

GEAHM is one of the five identified COVID-19 vaccination sites of the province for its frontline health workers.
