MANILA, Philippines — Police confirmed a shooting incident near a mall located along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on Wednesday evening.
Police officers from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 6 in Batasan Hills told INQUIRER.net that operatives were dispatched to the area to respond to an “ongoing” shooting incident, which, according to unconfirmed and sketchy reports, is happenig at a fast-food restaurant near the mall.
In a tweet, Philippine Red Cross (PRC) chairman and Senator Richard Gordon said two policemen were reportedly injured in the armed encounter. He also said the PRC sent a medical team to extend assistance.
“Several gunshots were heard near the overpass at Ever Gotesco Mall at around 6:00 PM. Two PNP officers were reportedly wounded. We already coordinated with QC Police Stations 5 & 6 and dispatched medic team to provide immediate assistance. Keep safe everyone,” Gordon wrote on Twitter.
