MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or amihan has weakened, now only affecting northern Luzon, while the easterlies have been prevailing over the eastern portion of the country.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Wednesday afternoon said it has not monitored any low-pressure area or any tropical cyclone that may influence the country’s climate.
But Batanes and the northernmost provinces of Luzon will have cloudy skies and light rain because of the amihan, and although the presence of easterlies means warm and humid weather in the eastern parts, rain may still occur in that area on Thursday, the state weather bureau said.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said temperatures across Luzon on Thursday will go high with Metro Manila likely experiencing around 24 to 32 degrees Celsius climate as recently cold Tuguegarao will have it at 22 to 31 degrees Celsius, Laoag at 23 to 32 degrees Celsius, Baguio at 16 to 24 degrees Celsius, and Legazpi and Puerto Princesa at 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.
The same can be expected in Visayas and Mindanao, according to Pagasa, with Iloilo and Cebu’s temperature possible hitting 25 to 31 degrees Celsius; Tacloban and Cagayan de Oro, 24 to 31 degrees Celsius; Davao, 25 to 33 degrees Celsius; and Zamboanga, 24 to 33 degrees Celsius.
Despite the probable warm condition on Thursday, Pagasa said the weather may turn cold again as Metro Manila, Baguio, and Legazpi’s temperatures may go lower by weekend.
