LUCENA CITY –– The Cavite police accosted at least 209 persons, who were allegedly violating health and safety protocols against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Cavite police information office reported on its Facebook page Wednesday that from Feb. 21 to 23, the violators were not wearing face masks or disregarded the curfew.
The violators paid fines or did community service.
As of Feb. 23, Cavite, which is under modified general community quarantine, has recorded 20,514 COVID-19 cases, with 19,074 recoveries and 564 fatalities.
The province still has 881 virus carriers.
Colonel Marlon Santos, Cavite police chief, also reported that anti-illegal drug operatives arrested 16 drug suspects during the same period.
The police confiscated 43 sachets of shabu (crystal meth), six sachets of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and cash believed to be from the sale of illegal drugs.
The report did not specify the volume and street value of the confiscated drugs.
The police also nabbed 32 illegal gamblers, four wanted criminals, 29 suspects for minor and major offenses, and 10 other violators of municipal ordinances.
