MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported an additional 1,414 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, pushing the country’s total to 564,865.
Based on the latest bulletin from the DOH, the number of active cases is now at 29,817, which comprise 5.3 percent of the total infections.
Of the active cases, 88.4 percent are mild, 5.7 percent are asymptomatic, 2.6 percent are critical, 2.5 percent are severe, and 0.84 percent are moderate cases.
Meanwhile, 72 new recoveries have been reported, bringing the number of virus survivors to 522,941.
DOH also recorded 16 new fatalities. The number of patients who have died from the disease is now at 12,107.
The DOH said five duplicate entries, including two recoveries, were removed from the caseload.
Three cases that were previously tagged as deaths were also reclassified as recoveries, while another three cases that were tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon validation.
According to the health agency, the additional figures do not cover data from eight laboratories that were not able to submit their results on time.
On Sunday, the DOH reported 18 more cases of the more contagious UK variant of the new coronavirus in the Philippines, bringing the total to 62.
The DOH also confirmed three more cases of mutations, which brought to 34 the number of those found to have both the N501Y mutation in the UK variant and the E484K mutation in the South African variant.
