CLARK FREEPORT –– The Clark International Airport (CRK) is getting a new control tower and a ground lighting system, as two winning bidders started work this month, a top official of the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) said.
MSV Construction won the bid to build the P290-million control tower project, while Evercon Builders and Equipment Corp. bagged the award for the P491-million lighting system, CIAC president Aaron Aquino said in a statement on Tuesday.
“These [projects] are expected to improve Clark’s air traffic control system as the new passenger terminal building of the [CRK] is expected to be fully operational within the year,” Aquino said.
The two projects, scheduled to be finished in December this year, are funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2020 and went through a six-month tender process, he said.
According to him, the 18-storey tower would be the tallest in the country.
After the privatization of CRK to the private consortium LIPAD in 2018, CIAC took charge of developing the 2,367-hectare Clark Civil Aviation Complex as a globally competitive services and logistics hub.
