MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Depression Auring has displaced over 13 families or more than 50,000 individuals in parts of Mindanao, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.
A total of 13,816 families or 53,236 persons were adversely affected by the weather disturbance in Northern Mindanao, Davao and Caraga regions, the NDRRMC reported.
A total of 12,825 families or 49,236 persons sought refuge in various evacuation centers. Around 450 families or 1,720 persons opted to stay with relatives or friends.

The data is still subject to further verification, the NDRRMC said.
As of Monday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said that nearly 5,000 passengers were stranded in various ports in Northern Mindanao, Northeastern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Bicol region and Southern Tagalog regions due to Auring.
The PCG said 142 vessels and 96 motor bancas sought shelter as a precautionary measure.
As of midday Monday, Auring was heading toward Albay-Sorsogon area after making landfall over Batag Island in Northern Samar.
