BAGUIO CITY — Many “summer capital” residents and visitors had to slip on extra layers of clothing after the city recorded its lowest, most chilling temperature in four years.
The weather station here reported that the mercury plunged to a chilly 9 degrees Celsius at 5 a.m. on Sunday.
This was colder than last year’s 9.4°C, which was also recorded on Feb. 21.
The lowest recorded temperature in Baguio was 6.3 °C on Jan. 18, 1961.
The nippy weather is caused by the prevailing northeast monsoon or ‘amihan” in Northern Luzon bringing cold winds from the northeast.
