THE FAMILY Appliance Inc. leaned on the explosive scoring of Lyle Sumayang to thwart the Aerophone, 71-68, in Game 1 of the best-of-three finals series of the Jr. CBA at the Cebu Eastern College gym.
Family Appliance was behind at halftime, 38-44, but got its bearings together in time to log the victory.
Sumayang had 34 points to pace the winners. Marvin Bauya also was a key contributor as he tallied 14. Jerry Seno was the lone double-digit scorer for Aerophone with 12.
The two teams arranged the finals encounter with contrasting victories in the semifinals.
Family Appliance put a stop to Herea Hair Salon via a sweep in the best-of-three semifinals series while Aerophone barely got past Ave Maria Sanctuary and Park, 2-1, in their own series.
