Consumer loses cool over power woes, stabs Albay utility employee, guard with pen

LEGAZPI CITY—A power utility employee in the city suffered minor injuries after a consumer stabbed him with a ballpoint pen and bit him over a complaint against the utility’s services on Tuesday (Feb. 16).

Maj. Dexter Panganiban, Albay police spokesperson, said in a report on Wednesday (Feb. 17) that Lesley Capus, 49, employee of Albay Power and Energy Corp. (Apec), was attacked by Marcia Katrina Acuna, 58.

Acuna, a customer of Apec, was causing a commotion at the Apec office around 4:25 p.m. as she protested the arrears in her payments and voluntary disconnection of power lines in her area.

Capus said Acuna knocked hard at the door of the Apec office and was shouting inside, insisting she talk with the utility’s general manager.

“I talked to her but she immediately slapped me with the letter of complaint and stabbed me on my left shoulder four times using a ball pen,” said Corpus in his narration to police.

“When we asked her to sit, she then bit me on my right thumb,” said the Apec employee.

Capus said a security guard, who tried to pacify Acuna, was also stabbed with the same ball pen she used to stab Capus with.

Panganiban said Acuña was brought to the police station after the fracas.

Capus said he was still waiting if the legal department of Apec would file charges for alarm and scandal against Acuña.
