MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Tuesday cautioned the public against individuals who are posing as employees of President Rodrigo Duterte’s office to solicit funds.

“This is to forewarn the public that some unscrupulous individuals have been posing as officials or employees of the Office of the President, or name-dropping them to make fraudulent schemes to solicit funds from the public,” Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said in a statement.

“The Office of the President has not authorized any person to solicit money or other things of value from the public,” he added.

Medialdea urged the public to report such illegal activities to 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center.
