Covid-19 hits 1,391 more, pushing PH total cases to 552,246 – DOH
MANILA, Philippines — Nationwide Covid-19 case count rose to 552,246 on Tuesday as the Department of Health (DOH) reported an additional 1,391 individuals who contracted the respiratory disease.
Based on the latest case bulletin of DOH, 28,926 of the sum are tagged as active cases while 45 more managed to recover from the ailment increasing the total number of recovered patients to 511,796.
On the other hand, DOH said seven coronavirus-positive people failed to survive and pushed the country’s death toll to 11,524 as of February 16.
To illustrate, the total Covid-19 case count pie consists of 5.2 percent active cases, 92.7 percent recovered patients, and 2.09 percent fatalities.
Of the active cases, DOH said 87.1 percent are mild, 6.7 percent are asymptomatic, 2.7 percent are critical, 2.6 percent are severe, and 0.85 percent are moderate.
On hospital capacity, DOH said 62 percent of intensive care unit beds, 67 percent of isolation beds, and 77 percent of ward beds for Covid-19 patients are still available.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, the health agency further reported the discovery of five duplicates in its data, including two recoveries, that were consequently removed from the total case count.
Article continues after this advertisementTwo cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were likewise reclassified as deaths after final validation, it added.
DOH likewise said the additional figures do not cover data from 10 laboratories that were not able to submit their results on time.
