Family of 3 infected with COVID-19 in Zambales after visiting relatives

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales –– A local health worker, his wife, and their daughter have contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Sunday after visiting their relatives in Isabela province recently.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said the health worker is a 61-year-old employee of a public hospital in the province.

The man went to Isabela, together with his 65-year-old wife and 30-year-old daughter, on Feb. 1 to visit their relatives.

During their stay in Isabela, the health worker and his wife experienced some symptoms of the virus. They returned to Zambales on Feb. 7.

Three days later, the daughter developed colds and suffered from loss of taste and smell.

On the same day, they were informed that most of the relatives they visited in Isabela contracted the virus.

They immediately underwent reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests, which yielded positive results.

The province has 923 total COVID-19 cases to date, 25 of which are active cases, 877 are recoveries, 20 are fatalities.
