Army soldier kills capitol worker in Kalinga over P2,000, say police

BAGUIO CITY –– An Army soldier on Monday allegedly shot dead an employee of the Kalinga provincial capitol after an argument over P2,000 that the suspect was trying to reimburse, the police said.

Investigators identified the fatality as Denver Tubban, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Bulanao, Tabuk City. He succumbed to five bullet wounds.

Another capitol employee, identified as Jenner Bananao Ewad, was wounded in the shooting.

Investigators said suspect Cpl. Denmark Baddongon of the military’s 503rd Infantry Brigade opened fire as Tubban was closing the gate at Ewad’s house.

Ewad tried to help Tubban, but was also shot by the suspect.

The police said the suspect arrived at the compound with a gun and confronted Tubban. Baddongon was asking Tubban to reimburse his money.

The victims were taken to a hospital, but Tubban was declared dead on arrival. The suspect immediately fled.

Police said the Army would surrender the suspect.
