LUCENA CITY –– At least 209 persons were caught by policemen in Cavite province over the last three days for violating health and safety protocols against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Cavite police public information office reported on its Facebook page that from Feb. 13 to 15, the violators did not wear face masks or disregarded the curfew.
The violators paid fines or rendered community service in their respective municipalities.
As of Feb. 15, the province has recorded 20,152 COVID-19 cases, with 18,639 recoveries and 559 deaths. Cavite still has 954 active virus carriers.
Colonel Marlon Santos, Cavite police chief, also reported that they arrested 24 alleged drug pushers in 11 buy-bust operations in different parts of the province during the three-day synchronized operations.
Authorities confiscated 63 plastic sachets of shabu (crystal meth), drug paraphernalia, and cash believed to be from the sale of illegal drugs.
The volume and street value of the confiscated illegal drugs were not specified in the report.
The police also nabbed 29 illegal gamblers, four wanted criminals and at least 16 suspects for minor and major offenses.
