MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies with light rains are expected over Metro Manila and most parts of Luzon due to the northeast monsoon or amihan, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.
In its 5 a.m. live weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the amihan is currently affecting weather conditions in Luzon.
Because of this, the amihan will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Metro Manila, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Bicol Region and Occidental Mindoro.
The amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the rest of Luzon, Pagasa said.
Visaya and Mindanao, meanwhile, will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the tail-end of a frontal system, Pagasa added.
State meteorologists are still monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA), which was last spotted at 1,450 kilometers east of Mindanao.
“Nananatili po yung posibilidad na ito ay pumasok sa Philippine area of responsibility at magdala ng mga pag-ulan dyan sa area ng Mindanao at Visayas,” weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said.
(There is still a possibility that this will enter the Philippine area of responsibility and will bring rains over Mindanao and Visayas.)
