Monday weather forecast: Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers

MANILA, Philippines — The tail-end of a frontal system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the  Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao, while the northeast monsoon will affect Luzon on Monday, according to the state weather bureau.

 The tail-end of a frontal system is where cold winds from the northeast monsoon and the easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, converge, Meno Mendoza, weather specialist at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), explained in a weather forecast.

Pagasa’s forecast also showed the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains to the  Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Bicol region, Aurora, and Quezon.

 The northeast monsoon will likewise bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains to Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, according to the weather bureau.

 The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

 Meanwhile, the low pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) was last located 1,560 kilometers east of Mindanao.

 “Ang nasabing LPA sa kasalukuyan ay wala pa namang direktang epekto sa anumang bahagi ng ating bansa (The said LPA does not have any direct effect in the weather in any part of the country as of now),” Mendoza said.

Forecast temperature range in key cities/areas:

 Metro Manila: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius

Baguio City: 13 to 23 degrees Celsius

Laoag City:  20 to 29 degrees Celsius

Tuguegarao: 19 to 29 degrees Celsius

Legazpi City: 25 to 29 degrees Celsius

Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 30 degrees Celsius

Tagaytay City: 20 to 29 degrees Celsius

Kalayaan Islands: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius

Iloilo City: 26 to 28 degrees Celsius

Cebu City: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius

Tacloban City: 25 to 30 degrees Celsius

Cagayan De Oro City: 23 to 31 degrees Celsius
