DILG recognizes anti-Covid measures of Tacloban City Mayor Romualdez

TACLOBAN CITY — Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez was recognized by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for his effort and programs in addressing the new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

The DILG in Eastern Visayas bestowed upon Romualdez, together with Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez, the “Disiplina Muna Ambassadors.”

The DILG has issued Memorandum Circular No-2020-116 which focuses on the “Disiplina Muna” campaign among local government units as a way to stop the spread of Covid-19.

The DILG, in particular, took notice of Romualdez’ steps against Covid-19 when he issued a directive as early as January of last year for all passengers returning to Tacloban to fill out a form to determine their travel history and on his strict implementation on the use of face masks beginning last March 2020, the onset of Covid-19 in the country.

In his speech read during the virtual event held last Feb.10, Romualdez pointed out how the “Bida ang May Disiplina: Solusyon Sa Covid-19” campaign boils down to the core value of discipline that every resident of Tacloban must possess.

“When we incorporate discipline into our daily lives, we become citizens committed to the government’s cause, particularly in resolving the pandemic,” Romualdez said.

Romualdez appealed to the Taclobanons to continue to observe discipline by strictly observing all the health protocols being implemented by the government to solve the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tacloban currently has 1,854 Covid-19.
