LUCENA CITY –– The island province of Marinduque, which has recorded over 200 coronavirus disease cases, had its 11th fatality following the death of a 74-year-old man from Santa Cruz town due to COVID-19, local authorities reported on Feb. 11.
The Santa Cruz Municipal Health Office, in its 8 p.m. Thursday bulletin on Facebook, disclosed that the elderly patient from Barangay Lapulapu succumbed to acute respiratory failure and pneumonia on Feb. 9.
The victim was listed as COVID-19 mortality in the province only two days later.
The patient had no travel history to places with known COVID-19 cases and no record of close contact with any confirmed virus carrier, the report said.
The patient was the 35th confirmed COVID-19 case in Santa Cruz and the second death recorded in the town, which still has one active case as of Thursday.
As of Feb. 10, the island province of Marinduque recorded a total of 273 COVID-19 cases, 255 recoveries, and 11 fatalities.
The province still has seven active cases.
