15 hurt in van-jeepney collision in Quezon
LUCENA CITY –– Fifteen motorists were injured in a collision between a delivery van and a passenger jeepney along the Maharlika Highway in Gumaca town in Quezon province early morning Thursday, Feb. 11.
Major Rodelio Calawit, Gumaca police chief, said in a report that the Bicol-bound van driven by Sherwin Baranda collided with an oncoming jeepney driven by Enrico Daño along the highway in Barangay Calumanguin around 7:30 a.m.
Both drivers suffered injuries, along with 13 jeepney passengers, and were rushed by rescuers to Gumaca District Hospital at the town center for treatment. Police have yet to determine the extent of the victims’ injuries.
The report said Baranda suddenly lost control of his vehicle and occupied the opposite lane that resulted in the collision.
