Townhall in Camarines Sur on lockdown after employees contact COVID-19 case
LEGAZPI CITY –– The Lagonoy townhall in Camarines Sur province was placed on lockdown on Wednesday after a frequent visitor’s wife tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Lagonoy Mayor Delfin Pilapil III advised the public that business transactions at the town hall are suspended as disinfection and contact tracing procedures are conducted.
Pilapil said in a phone interview that as soon as the disinfection of the entire municipal building is finished and the tracing of the employees, who came in close contact with the COVID suspect is completed, the lockdown would be lifted. He said the local government has close to 200 employees.
Meanwhile, the man who frequently visited the town hall had taken a swab test. The result is expected to be out by Friday.
He is quarantined at the town isolation facility while his COVID-19-positive wife is under isolation at the Camarines Sur quarantine facility. Their two children are under home quarantine.
Pilapil said data from the local Interagency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease indicate that as of Wednesday, the town had seven COVID-19 active cases. Lagonoy has a total of 26 cases, 16 recoveries, and three reported deaths since the pandemic broke out in March 2020.
