DIGOS CITY –– A businessman engaged in mango trading died on the spot after two unidentified assassins shot him at close range in a subdivision here on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Lt. Col. Vici Anthony Tababa, acting Digos City police chief, identified the victim as Arman Jarot Mangubat, 53, of Malalag town, Davao del Sur.

Reports said Mangubat was inside the mango warehouse in Sambas Subdivision in the village of Cogon when the attackers barged in and shot the victim twice in the head, killing him instantly.

Witnesses told police investigators the assailants fled after the shooting.

Provincial crime laboratory personnel found two spent cartridges and one deformed slug from a still-undisclosed firearm.

Tababa said they have yet to establish the motive behind the attack and the identities of the killers.
