FOR accomodating students during school hours, an Internet cafe and a billiard hall were closed down by the City’s Advocacy for Responsible Enterprise (CARE) of Lapu-lapu City yesterday morning.
It was also found that both establishments do not have business permits.
Students were caught playing in the billiards hall owned by Julian Misa Jr. in barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City.
Misa’s billiard hall is located behind the school.
Antonio Utrera of CARE said they were acting on complaints of the Parents Teachers and Community Association (PTCA) against the operation of the billiard hall.
He said high school students would cut classes to play billiards.
Misa was given a copy of the closure order for violating the ordinance that regulates the operation of billiard and dart halls and video arcades. But she refused to sign it.
An Internet café owned by Glenn King was also ordered to cease operations for three months for violating the ordinance that regulates the operation, of Internet cafés within Lapu-Lapu City.
The ordinance prohibits students from getting inside internet cafés during class hours. Yesterday pupils were caught inside the establishment playing computer games.
