BAGUIO CITY –– Many graduates of the Philippine Military Academy will be participating in this year’s alumni homecoming via video conferencing because of the general community quarantine in Baguio, the Academy’s spokesman said on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
Only 90 alumni members and awardees have signified that they would join the Feb. 12-13 event during the Valentine’s Day weekend.
The PMA Alumni Association had invited Senate President Vicente Sotto III to be their guest speaker on Friday, Feb. 12, said Maj. Cheryl Tindog in a Feb. 9 statement.
The awards ceremony for outstanding alumni members would be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, with Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta as their guest of honor.
Those who would be participating at the alumni assembly at Borromeo Field would have limited face-to-face contact, Tindog said.
PMAAA has been limited to “30-percent attendance” by the National Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, she said.
Attending alumni members must present a travel authorization document and a medical certificate indicating they have not been infected with the coronavirus disease after submitting to reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests.
“The Academy is doing its very best to ensure that the (legacy) of the alumni (that inspires) the Cadet Corps of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the PMA community shall be deeply ingrained through this traditional activity, while still adhering with all necessary safety and health protocols,” Tindog said.
