MANILA, Philippines — Philippines on Tuesday documented 1,235 more cases of the severe respiratory disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, taking to 540,227 the total number of Covid-19 infections.
Based on the 4 p.m. Department of Health case bulletin, 29,167 active cases were reported, which is 5.4 percent of the total virus infections. Of the total active cases, the nation’s health department said 88.6 percent are mild; 5.5 percent are asymptomatic; 2.7 percent are critical; 2.6 percent are severe, and 0.61 percent are moderate.
Meanwhile, 53 more people survived the disease, raising the country’s total recoveries to 499,746. The nationwide Covid-19 death toll reached 11,296, with 65 new fatalities.
Three duplicated cases, including two recoveries, were removed from the total caseload, according to DOH. Also, 59 cases previously classified as recoveries were tagged as deaths after “final validation,” the health department said.
