Village chief nabbed over illegal guns in Cagayan town

TUGUEGARAO CITY –– A 52-year-old village chief in Cagayan province was arrested after he yielded guns and bullets during a search on Monday, police said.

Col. Ariel Quilang, Cagayan police director, identified the suspect as Ruben Salvador of Barangay Agaman Norte in Baggao town.

The search in Salvador’s house was carried out based on a warrant issued by Judge Sheila Gacutan-Labuguen of the Municipal Trial Court-Baggao.

The police seized a mortar, various guns and ammunition, and assorted communist documents from the suspect’s residence.
