Gunshot greets welder as he opens his house gate to stranger in Davao del Sur town

DIGOS CITY—A welder was wounded in an attack by a still unidentified gunman in his house in the town of Malalag, Davao del Sur on Sunday (Feb. 7).

Lt. Sandique Solaiman, Malalag police chief, said Conrado Renehane Mirafuentes, 47, was talking with his wife at the terrace of their house when someone called out his name.

The welder was on the way to open the house gate when the assailant drew a .45 caliber pistol and fired, hitting him in the left thigh.

The gunman just walked away after shooting Mirafuentes, police said.

Mirafuentes was rushed to the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital in Digos City as policemen launched a manhunt for the assailant.

Forensics investigators found slugs for .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
