Puerto Princesa City records 2nd Covid-19 death

 

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY—This city recorded its second coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) death when an 82-year old woman from Barangay San Jose succumbed to the virial infection at Ospital ng Palawan (ONP) Sunday night.

Dr. Dean Palanca, head of the city ‘s Incident Management Team (IMT), said Sunday evening that they are making an effort to identify the source of the infection of the 82 year-old patient, noting that the deceased had no travel history.

Prior to her demise, the woman had known co-morbidities, first had a sore throat and was brought to hospital after her symptoms worsened.

 She was transferred to the ONP, the province’s primary Covid-19 facility, after her condition did not improve.

Meanwhile, Barangay San Jose officials said they are placing under close watch the immediate vicinity of the residence of the deceased.

 Barangay chairman Estrella Salvador, in a phone interview, said that the patient’s residence and neighbors on Lomboy Street would be closely monitored, but insisted that the barangay officials cannot enforce a localized lockdown.
