DAVAO CITY – A 4.8 magnitude earthquake jolted Davao del Sur area at 7:28 a.m. Sunday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The tectonic earthquake’s epicenter was traced 9 kilometers west of Magsaysay, Davao del Sur and had a depth of focus of 16 kilometers.
Phivolcs recorded earthquake intensities in the following areas:
Intensity IV – Makilala, Cotabato
Intensity III – Kiblawan, Davao Del Sur; Davao City; Kidapawan City and Tulunan, Cotabato; Columbio, Sultan Kudarat
Intensity II – Banisilan and Arakan , Cotabato; Cotabato City; Koronadal City and Surallah, South Cotabato; Tacurong and Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat
Instrumental intensities were also recorded in the following areas:

Intensity IV – Kidapawan City, Cotabato
Intensity II – Alabel, Sarangani
Intensity I – Kiamba, Sarangani; General Santos City
Phivolcs said no damage and aftershocks are expected.
