Low pressure area spotted east of Davao City

MANILA, Philippines — The weather service is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) that was located 1,105 kilometers east of Davao City on Saturday afternoon. In its 4 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the new weather disturbance was still outside of the Philippine area of responsibility but was already generating thick cloud clusters. Pagasa said the LPA was expected to bring rain showers in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao on Sunday afternoon or early evening. Meanwhile, the tail end of the frontal system is forecast to affect the eastern part of northern Luzon. Cloudy skies and scattered rain showers are expected in Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region. —Nikka G. Valenzuela
