MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday recorded 57 more police personnel stricken with the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), increasing the total count of cases in the police organization to 10,431.
In a Facebook post, PNP said 649 cases or six percent of the total count of the police force’s virus infections were considered active.
Of the total new cases, PNP tally showed that Cordillera police have the highest number of Covid-19 infections, with 11 additional carriers of SARS-CoV-2, virus that causes Covid-19.
It is also at Bontoc, Mountain province in Cordillera where the local transmission of the more infectious Covid-19 variant was reported. The country currently has 25 cases of the B.1.1.17. variant.
This was followed by Davao police with 10 new cases. Meanwhile, seven cases each were reported in the police force of Eastern Visayas and Zamboanga police.
Thirty-eight more police personnel recovered from the disease while no new fatalities were documented, PNP noted. This brings the total survivors and deaths to 9,753 and 29, respectively.
