Get rid of illegal drugs, Sinas orders PNP Region 8

TACLOBAN CITY – Get rid of illegal drugs.

This was the appeal made by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Debold Sinas in his first visit to Eastern Visayas on Saturday.

Sinas said he has issued a directive to all regional directors to conduct random tests among their personnel and those who would be tested positive should be dismissed from service in two months.

“I already issued an instruction to dismiss them in one to two months only. If not, the regional directors will be held responsible for negligence and inaction,” he said.

Sinas arrived at the PNP-8 regional headquarters at Camp Ruperto Kangleon in Palo town, Leyte and welcomed by the region’s top police officials lead by Brigadier Gen. Ronaldo de Jesus, police regional director.

The PNP chief led in the distribution of 220 units of 5.56 Galil rifles and eight units of radio equipment to be distributed to all line units of the police offices across the region.

Aside from their relentless campaign against illegal drugs, Sinas said the other mandates of the President include going after all forms of illegal gambling, corruption, and terrorism.

He also reminded the local police personnel to stay fit and healthy as the threat of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) rages on.
