Duterte declares May 18 as ‘National Higher Education Day’

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday signed a law declaring May 18 of every year as “National Higher Education Day.”

Duterte signed Republic Act No. 11522 to commemorate the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHEd) founding anniversary.

The President directed CHEd as the lead agency in charge of preparing the annual programs for the “National Higher Education Day.”

All higher education institutions were also enjoined to support and assist CHEd in the observance of the said event.

Further, the President encouraged other government agencies, local government units, state universities and colleges, public and private educational institutions, and the private sector to participate in any activity in celebration of the “National Higher Education Day.”
