MANILA, Philippines — Residents of Luzon may see cloudy skies over the weekend due to the prevailing northeast monsoon and the tail end of a frontal system, state meteorologists said on Friday afternoon.
According to weather reports from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Luzon’s eastern and northern portion, especially the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, eastern areas of Central Luzon and Southern Luzon, would remain affected by the two systems.
As a result, light rains may also occur due to thunderstorm activities, while cold weather would continue despite the northeast monsoon or Amihan tapering off momentarily.
Metro Manila would be a bit warmer at 24 to 31 degrees Celsius, compared to northern towns of Tuguegarao with 19 to 26 degrees, Laoag with 19 to 31 degrees, and Baguio with 13 to 24 degrees. Legazpi may register something around 23 to 29 degrees, while Puerto Princesa would also be warm at 24 to 32 degrees.
Down in the Visayas and Mindanao, Cebu, Iloilo, and Tacloban, the weather would be warmer from 24 to 31 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in Davao would hover between 24 and 30 degrees, Cagayan de Oro from 21 to 30 degrees, and Zamboanga from 22 to 33 degrees.
A gale warning remains raised, but this time only for the seaboards of Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Quezon Province, waters of Bicol Region and those north of Eastern Visayas. Fisherfolk would be barred from setting sail in these areas as sea conditions may be very rough, still due to the tail end of a frontal system.
