2 women die from COVID-19 in Eastern Samar

TACLOBAN CITY –– Two women succumbed to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Eastern Samar on Thursday, Feb.4.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the fatalities, aged 45 and 47, were immediately buried as part of the protocol in managing those who died of COVID-19.

The province of Eastern Samar currently has 27 COVID-19 deaths.

Meanwhile, the DOH on Friday, Feb. 5, reported 69 new COVID-19 cases across the region, bringing the total number of infections in Eastern Visayas to 14,377, with 13,457 recoveries.

In Tanauan town, Leyte, Mayor Pelagio Tecson, Jr. said he, his wife, and two daughters tested positive for COVID-19 but are now recovering.

“By God’s grace, my body responded well, and I am now recovering well, and eagerly waiting for my reswab,” the 53-year old mayor who contracted the deadly virus last Jan. 26 said.
