FDA has not approved Covid-19 self-test kits, says DOH

/ 08:41 PM February 03, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved any self-administered test kits for Covid-19, the Department of Health (DOH) said Wednesday.

“To date, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the Philippines has not approved any self-administered test kits,” the DOH said in a statement.

“The DOH cautions the public against sellers who claim to sell such products and strongly urges the immediate reporting of such to the FDA,” it added.

The DOH also reiterated that while testing is a crucial measure in the Covid-19 response, prevention of infection through strict adherence to minimum public health standards remains to be the best measure against the spread of the new coronavirus.
