Teacher shot dead in her classroom in Masbate

MANILA, Philippines—An elementary school teacher was shot dead Friday by still unidentified suspects inside her classroom in Masbate, police said.

Loida Benigay Pagatpat, 51, a resident of Barangay Antipolo, Palanas, Masbate, was gunned down by two persons at the Antipolo Elementary School around 11:10 a.m., Senior Superintendent Heriberto Olitoquit said.

“The gunmen were not students,” he said.

The suspects, however, managed to escape after the incident on board a red motorcycle, he said.

Police were conducting hot pursuit operation to arrest the suspects, said Olitoquit.
