Cop dies, 3 hurt as car slams truck in Isabela town

CABATUAN, Isabela –– A policeman died while three of his relatives were injured when their car’s front tire blew out, causing the vehicle to hit a dump truck here on Tuesday morning.

The fatality was identified as Patrolman Gilbert Ayson of the 2nd Isabela Mobile Force Company, according to Lt. Florencio Molina, Cabatuan deputy police chief.

Investigation showed that Ayson, who was driving the car, overtook another vehicle when the blown tire sent them crashing against the approaching truck.

Ayson was pinned inside the car due to the impact, leading to his death. His wife and two relatives suffered injuries.

The victims were heading to a pediatrician in Santiago City for a checkup when they figured in the accident. INQ
