Calbayog City village chief arrested for unlicensed rifles, ammo

TACLOBAN CITY—A village chief in Calbayog City, Samar province was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition late on Monday (Feb. 1).

Crispo Bello, 46, village chair of Tigbe, was arrested as police served a search warrant issued by Judge Reynaldo Clements, of the Regional Trial Court Branch 31.

Seized from Bellow were assault rifles, a pistol and magazines.

The village chief is now detained in the provincial police office in Catbalogan City. The provincial police led the operation to serve the search warrant on Bello.
