IATF approves ‘special hog lanes’ to fight price spike

/ 05:14 AM January 30, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) approved the designation of nautical highways as “special hog lanes” to ensure the unhampered passage of hog shipments across the country, amid rising prices of pork and the threat of African swine fever.

The nautical highway from Luzon and Mindanao and the Maharlika Highway in Luzon would be the special hog lanes, as proposed by the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The IATF directed the DA, the Departments of the Interior and Local Government, Trade and Industry to jointly implement the resolution. —LEILA B. SALAVERRIA
