MANILA, Philippines — Philippines on Friday documented 1,849 new infections of the coronavirus disease, raising the total active cases nationwide to 35,048.
As of 4 p.m., the Department of Health’s case bulletin showed that the country’s total caseload of Covid-19 cases rose to 521,413.
The severe respiratory disease killed 48 more patients, increasing the death toll to 10,600.
Meanwhile, the total count of recovered patients increased to 475,765. This after 177 more people survived from the ailment caused by SARS-CoV-2.
Of the 35,048 new infections, DOH announced that 85 percent are mild, 9.5 percent are asymptomatic, 2.9 percent are critical, 2.2 percent are severe cases, and 0.46 percent are moderate cases.
However, the health department did not report the top cities or municipalities with the highest new infections.
DOH said 11 duplicated cases were scrapped from the total count. Of the number, six were recovered cases.
Two cases previously cited as recoveries were reclassified to deaths after “final validation,” the nation’s health department said.
Eight molecular laboratories, which were not specified, did not submit their data to the DOH’s COVID-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on Jan. 28.
The Philippines is currently under its 10th month of lockdown in a bid to suppress the coronavirus disease contagion.
Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Regions and six other areas will be placed under general community quarantine next month.
Currently, the Philippines logged 17 cases of the B.1.1.7. variant of the new coronavirus.
