1,300 lights on NLEx to be replaced with brighter LEDs
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—More than 1,300 road lights will be upgraded along the 33 kilometers of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) from Balagtas town in Bulacan province to this Pampanga capital starting in February, an official of the NLEX Corp. said.
“We go beyond what is required by providing our motorists with adequate lighting for safer travel, as well as helping the environment by lessening our carbon footprint,” said Luigi Bautista, NLEx Corp. president and general manager, in a statement on Thursday.
LED (light emitting diode) lights will be replaced to increase brightness from 16 lux to 20 lux, exceeding the 12 lux standard of the Department of Energy.
Work will be done by March, he said, without citing the cost of the project.
NLEx Corp. in 2020 replaced at least 1,078 interchange and median LED lighting from NLEx Balintawak to Tabang, increasing the brightness from 12 lux to 20 lux.
