Sex education harmful to family, says US author

Sex education can degrade the Filipino family according to an American author.

Dr. Judith Reisman in a press conference said that sex education, especially in an academic environment, is harmful and morally degrading.

“The human brain is not designed for these kinds of stimuli, perhaps until age 21. Beyond that, it can still cause complications,” she said.

Reisman is in the country for a series of lectures on human sexuality and the reported rise of sex crimes in modern times.

The forums are supported by pro-life groups who oppose the Reproductive Health Bill.

She said the Catholic flock should remain true to church values to avoid being vulnerable in an “exploitative environment.”

“Parents have to talk to their children about the purity of sex,” Reisman said.

She added that to avoid pre-marital sex, people should “refer to church values” on fidelity and the sanctity of marriage.

She said early exposure to sex can cause sex addiction and that constant masturbation has a possible link to prostate cancer.

“Arousal is caused by fear, shame and horror, all linked up to the organs,” Reisman said.

“Those things will cause you physical, emotional damage and it is hurtful to our God,” the 77-year-old media forensic expert said.

Reisman described the controversial RH bill as the “Reproductive Harm” bill.

“If it will be passed, expect an increase in sexually transmitted diseases and sexual exploitation,” she said./ Candeze R. Mongaya
