MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring cloudy skies with rains to parts of Luzon, while the easterlies are forecast to affect the weather in the eastern portion of Visayas and Mindanao on Thursday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Amihan pa rin po ang nakakaapekto sa Luzon. Samantala, sa silangang bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao ay itong easterlies. Sa natitirang bahagi naman po ng bansa ay mga localized thunderstorms ang ating inaasahan,” Pagasa weather specialist Shelly Ignacio said in weather forecast issued at 4 a.m.
(The northeast monsoon still affects Luzon, while the easterlies will affect the eastern portion of Visayas and Mindanao. Localized thunderstorms are expected in the rest of the country.)
Based on Pagasa’s forecast, the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains to the Bicol region and Mimaropa, and cloudy skies with light rains to Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
In Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, the northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected in the Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga and Davao region due to the easterlies or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.
The rest of Mindanao, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, according to Pagasa.
Ignacio said the weather bureau is not expecting a low pressure area to develop in the Philippine area of responsibility within the next three days.
