202 arrested in Cavite for flouting COVID-19 protocols

LUCENA CITY—At least 202 of 221 arrests made by police in Cavite on Tuesday (Jan. 26) and Wednesday (Jan. 27) were for violation of health protocols that are in place to stop transmission of SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Col. Marlon Santos, Cavite police chief, said in a report that the 202 individuals taken into custody for violating COVID-19 protocols were arrested in different parts of the province. They were found either not wearing face masks and violating curfew.

Police also arrested drug suspects in separate buy-bust operations and seized 20 packets of shabu, or crystal meth, and one packet of dried marijuana leaves.

The report did not mention the estimated value of the seized drugs.

Also arrested in the two-day operations were six wanted individuals covered by arrest warrants.

Seven other individuals were arrested for various crimes like theft, beating, fencing of stolen articles and minor offenses.
