Unidentified men abandon a dead body with gunshot wounds in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Unidentified men on board a white van were seen abandoning a dead body along a street in Paco, Manila on Tuesday, police reported on Wednesday.

In a report from the National Capital Region Police Office, police said policemen discovered the corpse at 3:17 a.m. along Leon Guinto corner Quirino Avenue.

Based on closed-circuit television footage from Barangay 692 in Paco, two men inside a van without a plate number were caught on video getting rid of the body.

Police said the victim, believed to be aged 35 to 40 years old, suffered gunshot wounds in the body. The barefooted victim, wearing a red shirt and light-colored shorts, had a yellow electrical wire and nylon knot tied around his neck.

The lawmen noted that there was a cardboard sign attached to the victim’s neck, which read: “WAG TULARAN BASAG KOTSE AT HOLD-UPER AKO SUSUNOD NA KAYO!!” (Do not imitate me, I am a thief. You will be next.)

Recovered from the crime scene were four fired cartridge cases, and a deformed slug of an unknown firearm.

Police probers are still conducting an investigation to identify the victim and the perpetrators and determine the motive in the killing.
