Poe surprised her internet bandwidth was doubled: ‘Sana all talaga’

MANILA, Philippines — As senators were having a hard time discussing telecommunication matters due to poor internet connection, Senator Grace Poe on Wednesday shared her surprise that her internet bandwidth was unexpectedly doubled by her provider.

During a Senate public services committee hearing, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, who attended by videoconference, suddenly experienced lagging internet because of poor connection.

Poe, the chairperson of the panel, then remarked that senators were not having the best day in terms of internet connection.

“I wonder if this has something to do with those who are opposing our bills right now,” Poe joked.

“And it’s been weeks,” Senator Joel Villanueva added.

Poe, who was in a light mood, also noticed that she encounters problems with her internet every time her panel discusses telco matters.

“I don’t want to say who my provider is but you know who you are. Please do something about it,” Poe said.

She then shared: “I just got word from the provider that they just doubled my bandwidth. Pwede pala yun (They can actually do that).”

In response to Poe, Senator Imee Marcos said: “Here here, Madam chair. Sabi nga ni  Dr. [Sigmund] Freud (Even Dr. Freud), even paranoids have enemies.”

Ending the light moment, Poe said, “Thank you to my provider for doing that. Sana all talaga! (I hope everyone can get it.)”

The panel was discussing Gatchalian’s Senate Bill No. 176, which proposes end-users of prepaid SIM cards shall be required to present a valid ID and photo and sign a control-numbered registration form issued by the service provider of the purchased SIM card.
